The Mason Brayman Starring House and the Carl Constantine Heisen House,
both landmarks, are two unique buildings representing the memories of post-fire mansions on Chicago's North Lake Shore Drive facing Oak Street Beach.
The mansions originally functioned as single family homes. Over the years, they
fell into disrepair and were in danger of demolition in 1990. At that time, they were divided
into five condominiums with a central connection. Constantine D. Vasilios &
Associates, Ltd. was hired to transform the mansions back into single family
home grandeur. Constantine D. Vasilios & Associates, Ltd. combined three units
of the Mason Brayman Starring House, approximately 8,200 square feet, into a single
family home. A two car garage was added under the house with access from
Stone Street. The original staircase was extended, and interior alterations were
made to the adjoining spaces. Improvements were also made to the Carl Heisen
House. At project end, the mansions took back their original design
intent and purpose to house single families. |
